Ampersand HTML Special Characters

Back::Home

The following codes when placed between an ampersand (&) then hash/pound sign (#) and a semi colon will give the corresponding symbol on screen. For example see blue highlighted code 062 below. In your HTML page place ampersand, hash/pound, 062 then semi colon like this > On screen you will get a html close bracket thus >.

These characters are also useful when you wish to display html elements on the screen. For example, if I were making a page to teach html to beginners. For the first lesson I would use the following;

<HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE> </TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY> </BODY> </HTML>

This results in a screen output as follows;

    <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE> </TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY> </BODY> </HTML>

Special word code characters. As above except omit the pound/hash sign #. For example see blue highlighted code trade below. In your HTML page place ampersand, trade then semi colon like this &trade; On screen you will get a little trademark, tm thus ™. Many of the word codes give a duplicate output of number codes, but they are perhaps easier remembered.
